More than 10 events will be held in August 2020 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII in the Pacific and Norfolk Island's significant contribution to the war effort.

Pacific Peace 2020 is an initiative of The Norfolk Island RSL Sub-Branch and the community of Norfolk Island in association with the Norfolk Island Regional Council (NIRC), and the Commonwealth of Australia to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII in the Pacific and Norfolk Island's significant contribution to the war effort.

Norfolk Island's Contribution to the War Effort
Norfolk Island contributed greatly to the world war efforts with the highest per capita personnel involvement in the Commonwealth nations of the world for both WWI and WWII.
The island was a key contributor as a forward base for aircraft and the New Zealand Army, as one of the links in the supply chain to activities happening further north, and also as a hub for radio and radar transmissions to assist the allies with primary intelligence on ship locations, movements and strategies.

Join us for a delicious 3-course dinner with light entertainment inspired by the Swinging Big Band era.
Commemorative Church Service
At All Saints Church, Kingston.
Now is your opportunity to relive the camaraderie of war time over a 3-course dinner with fare that you’ll fondly remember. Listen to stories from the era and enjoy a short show that’ll bring the tears to your eyes.
RSL Rededication of the Pines At Kingston
After the dedication enjoy socialising with a morning tea. An usher will be available to show you where to park.
Lunch At The RSL Club
Informative talk by author Ron Nobbs about Norfolk Island during the War and its role in the Pacific Strategy. He will be available afterwards to do book signings for those who wish to buy a copy of his book.
Visit a fascinating display of RSL memorabilia in the Supper Room at Rawson Hall. RSL members will be on hand to guide you as you view the artefacts of the era.
Tonight you are free to explore the Island’s other great dining options.

Bus Tour of Historic World War II Locations
Norfolk Island was a strategic location for the Allies during World War II, consequently there were many lookout and gunner positions dotted around its coastline. Explore these sites and hear the stories of what it was like during the War. Meet at the tour office for this 2-hour tour.
Celebrate Peace Night
Join us in the World Heritage-listed Compound at Kingston – where Norfolk Islanders traditionally gather for celebrations and events . You can purchase your evening meal from one of the many food stalls. There will be plenty of different options to choose from. You can also purchase drinks from the bar and listen to live entertainment.
This popular event is open to the public, so join the locals for a chat. Be sure to snag your box seat early under the marquee.

Fish Fry En Wetls
There will be a spread of salads, Island dishes and traditional coconut bread with freshly fried fish in the Compound at Kingston. Followed by Island desserts and tea or coffee.
A bar will be onsite for self-purchase of drinks. The night will conclude with fireworks.
Top Gun Aviator Party
Enjoy a 3-course dinner followed by live entertainment. Jive ‘n’ Swing dance the night away as we celebrate this historic event.
Consecration of the RSL Monument
Head down to Kingston for the morning tea at this, our final event for the week.

Please note non-refundable deposit of $200 per person due upon confirmation of booking. Full payment is due prior to 24 April 2020. Airfare is subject to availability and non-refundable after issue. Changes are permitted until day before departure however date/route changes can only be made within 7 days travel dates either side of your original booked travel dates. Amendments, upgrades and name changes are NOT permitted within 24 hours prior to departure. Payment of a change fee (per passenger) applies plus any applicable upgrade fees to cover the difference between the original fare and the new fare. Accommodation cancellation penalties apply within 90 days prior to travel. Within 60 days of travel, up to 100% cancellation fees may apply. We strongly recommend travel insurance to protect you in some instances for unforeseen cancellation.
