Southern Lightscapes tour with Ian Rolfe
There’s a reason why Master of Photography, Fellow of the APS and professional photographer Ian Rolfe says “I absolutely love Norfolk Island, and it’s assuredly my favourite South Pacific destination.”
Having widely travelled and photographed throughout the Pacific Ian says of Norfolk Island “What renders this setting so particular and so beckoning for a landscape photographer, is the islands sublime scenic beauty, the unique majestic Pines and sea cliffs, its colourful greenness and the locals who give this island its distinctive charm”.
Having visited Norfolk Island on numerous occasions, Ian knows all the best locations and times to capture the ultimate Norfolk Island souvenir. From early morning to dusk the opportunities for magical light, country roads, farmland, historic buildings, coastline, mountains and rainforest are boundless. Visitors will return home with a portfolio of beautiful Norfolk Island pictures.
Ian’s passion for photography started at the age of eight when he was given his first camera. He began taking Monochrome pictures of family and friends and the regular annual holidays. A love of the landscape soon developed and flourished during a school camping safari to outback Queensland while attending Secondary College.
Ian has travelled extensively in Australia, South East Asia, Great Britain, Iceland, the Arctic Circle, North America, New Zealand, Norfolk Island and much of the Pacific region where he has photographed for the travel industry, stock libraries and his own photographic writing. His personal collection of photographs is now in excess of 40,000 transparencies and 60,000 digital files. For nearly 15 years Ian also wrote for Photo-master, Total Image and better Pictures magazines. Ian now concentrates on conducting and leading numerous Photographic workshops in Victoria, Tasmania and overseas.
Ian has been recognised internationally as an “artiste” from the International Society of Photographic art (FIAP) and is also a member of the VAPS committee and serves on the board of the Australian Judges Association. He has won numerous awards both in Australia and Internationally including Gold and Silver medals for his Photographs, he has been published in numerous books, magazines, and other commercial areas.
