Paradise Hotel & Resort

The Paradise Hotel & Resort is a popular 3.5-star resort nestled in 11 acres of beautifully landscaped subtropical gardens. The Garden Rooms are located on both the ground and first floors with many on the ground floor boasting a private terrace to enjoy the hotel gardens and swimming pool. Each room comprises of either a king, queen or twin beds, private bathroom, satellite television, DVD player, refrigerator, IDD phones, clock radio, fan, hair dryer and tea/coffee facilities.

Breakfast is served this morning at your hotel.  Today you’ll tour the island gaining a true insight into the intricate nature of modern island life. Your guide will share the latest information on the island's ethnic groups, nationalities and languages spoken, including the Norfolk Island indigenous language. Hear how and where islanders are born, educated, find work and careers, attend their various churches, are cared for in advancing years and eventually accorded free burial in a carefully tended community graveyard. Experienced leaders will explain the eight original family groups, how their cultural traits are fostered, valued and maintained in today's daily life. Learn about how the island generates its electricity, gains its supply of gas, ships in petroleum products, food and the material needs of life. The making of roads, the maintenance of medical, health services and environmental issues are explained. How modern life is experienced in Norfolk Island is what this tour is all about.  The tour includes morning or afternoon tea and concludes with a delicious lunch at the Boatshed Restaurant.  The rest of the day is at leisure.

This morning after breakfast at your hotel you’ll take the Paddock to Plate tour.   Visit a market garden that supplies vegetables to the Island and learn about providing seasonal produce. Tour a farm with beef cattle to understand the unique farming practices on Norfolk Island then visit a free-range chicken farm and learn how they supply the Island with farm fresh eggs. The final stop will be at a local home for a delicious two-course lunch featuring local ingredients.

  • Colleen McCullough Tour: This morning on the Colleen McCullough Tour you’ll take a glimpse into the life of this modern-day literary icon. The world-renowned author called Norfolk Island home for almost 36 years. She and husband, Norfolk Islander, Ric Robinson, created a luxurious hideaway here. They maintained their privacy to ensure Colleen had the perfect environment for her writing. And it worked, she created some of her most powerful titles in their little sanctuary. This tour will take you through her magnificent home, see where Colleen worked on her novels. In addition, you’ll get to view Ric and Colleen’s priceless collection of artefacts gathered on their travels all over the world.

  • Natural Wonders Tour: This morning explore Norfolk Island's geological marvels in all their natural beauty on the Natural Wonders tour. These spectacular formations are a result from the island's volcanic creation, three million years ago. Sheer rugged cliffs, outcrops of basalt and volcanic residue are examined. Be expertly guided through the beauty and characteristics of the island's delightful native, endemic and introduced species of trees and shrubs, plants and palms, ferns, flowers and fruits. These include the iconic Norfolk Island Pine. See examples of Norfolk's resident and migratory bird life. Possibly see or hear the call of the endangered Norfolk Island Green Parrot. Norfolk Island's abundant fish of the sea will be explained on this not to be missed tour.

  • Fletcher’s Mutiny Cyclorama: Enjoy a Devonshire morning at Hilli Restaurant before visiting Fletcher’s Mutiny Cyclorama. Stand in the centre of the circular painting and be surrounded by scenes depicting the voyage of the HMS Bounty, the famous mutiny led by Fletcher Christian, and the journey of his descendants to Norfolk Island. The experience is enhanced by a composed soundtrack of music and sound effects, including traditional Norfolk Hymns and snippets of the Norf'k language.  This spectacular 360° panoramic painting provides a total immersive experience of the history of the Bounty mutiny and the subsequent settlement of Pitcairn and Norfolk Islands.

Late this afternoon everyone will be transferred to Orn dar Cliff where you’ll partake in a traditional Norfolk Island Fish Fry. This is a highly popular event, and you’ll enjoy a feast of local dishes, including mouth-watering fresh fried fish, traditional salads, and homemade coconut bread. You'll also find local specialties like 'Pilhi' (savoury banana slice) and 'Ana' (a special sweet potato mash with local herbs), and coconut pie and cream for dessert. Coffee and tea are included, and you can purchase beer and wine or BYO if you prefer.  Enjoy live music from local performers and captivating performances by the Baunti Byuutis dancing group, showcasing traditional Tahitian movements

The day starts with a transfer to one of Norfolk’s fabulous restaurants for a champagne breakfast.  Enjoy a glass of champagne and pastries, cheese and some platters of delicious breakfast goodies.  Transferring back to your hotel after breakfast the rest of the morning is at leisure.

This afternoon make your way to Baileys Restaurant the Baileys Tea Party offers a delightful and elegant afternoon tea experience within the beautiful and historic setting of the Bailey’s homestead.

Tonight is about the glitz and glamour in the Boatshed!  Bring out your party frocks for party night!  Platters of food will be served and dance music will be provided by one of Norfolk’s great duos.  Kick up your heels and enjoy the Red Hatter’s Revelry!
