Join Internationally recognised quilters Ange (GnomeAngel - gnomeangel.com) and Kristy (Quiet Play Designs - quietplaydesigns.com) and spend a week learning new techniques, making new friends and seeing a stunning part of the world. Together we'll work on an exclusive project - with a special guest appearance by a surprise instructor - as well as help you conquer your WIPs and UFOs that you bring with you! We’ll share all our patchwork secrets from how to fussy cut to making amazing blocks with foundation paper piecing.
What you need to bring:
- Sewing supplies - all the things you need to be able to do what you want to do.
- Sewing machine (machines will be available for international students for an additional fee if needed. Please contact either Ange or Kristy directly via their websites if you think you may want to do this). Please be aware that QANTAS provides a 7kg limit for carry-on baggage.
- Sewing projects to start, work on or finish
A detailed packing list will be provided to help you ensure you bring everything you could need with you.
Our goal is to provide you with uninterrupted time to just have fun with fabric. The dishes will be done for you, your bed will be made for you and you’ll be looked after so all you have to do is sew and have a great time!

Your Fussy Cutters adventure begins!
Make your way to Brisbane International Airport this morning for your flight to beautiful Norfolk Island.
On arrival, you’ll be welcomed at the airport and transferred to Paradise Hotel & Resort, your home for the next eight nights.
After checking in, the remainder of the afternoon is yours to relax and settle in. Unpack, explore the hotel gardens, enjoy a quiet afternoon or simply take some time to prepare for the creative days ahead.
This evening, come together for a Welcome Dinner at Paradise Hotel & Resort — the perfect opportunity to meet your fellow Brisbane retreaters and begin making new friends.

Make your way to Sydney International Airport this morning for your flight to beautiful Norfolk Island.

Saturday 17 July 2027 – Discover Norfolk Island & Begin Your Sewing Retreat
Orientation Tour | Sewing Retreat Begins | Premium BBQ
After breakfast, join us for a 3½-hour Norfolk Island Orientation Tour — the perfect introduction to the island.
This entertaining and informative tour takes you around some of Norfolk Island’s most fascinating locations, including historic Kingston, Cascade and Longridge.
Along the way, discover the island’s convict history, beautiful beaches, golf course, Melanesian Chapel, government and unique lifestyle. Your local guide will share stories and insights into the island as you take in spectacular views from several scenic locations.
We’ll also stop for a delicious morning tea in the garden of a historic island home built by Fletcher Quintal, a descendant of the famous Bounty mutineers.
After returning to the hotel, it’s time to get creative!

Today is all about your sewing!
After breakfast, the sewing room is open for the day. Bring your project, settle in and enjoy a full day surrounded by fellow creative minds.
Morning tea, a light lunch and afternoon tea will be served, so you can keep your sewing machine humming without having to worry about the day’s meals.
The beauty of the retreat is that you can sew as much — or as little — as you like. Come and go throughout the day and make the most of your time on Norfolk Island.
Feeling adventurous? Why not take a break and visit Emily Bay, one of Norfolk Island’s most beautiful beaches? In winter, it may be more of a scenic stroll than a swimming opportunity, but the beach is well worth a visit.
This evening, enjoy a two-course dinner at Paradise Hotel & Resort.
After dinner, the sewing room remains open until 11.00pm for those who want to squeeze in a few more stitches.

Monday 19 July 2027 – Stitch, Explore & Connect
Full Day Sewing | Carvery Dinner
Another wonderful day of sewing awaits.
After breakfast, settle into the sewing room and continue working on your projects. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided throughout the day.
For those wanting a break from the sewing room, Norfolk Island offers plenty to explore.
Take a walk through Norfolk Island National Park, which covers approximately 14% of the island and protects an extraordinary collection of endemic and endangered flora and fauna.
The island is also a wonderful destination for birdwatchers, with species found nowhere else in the world.
Return to the retreat whenever you’re ready and continue sewing, chatting and sharing inspiration with your fellow Fussy Cutters.
Tonight, enjoy a traditional Carvery Dinner at Paradise Hotel & Resort.
And, of course, the sewing room will remain open until 11.00pm for anyone keen to return to their project.

Tuesday 20 July 2027 – A Day of Sewing & Norfolk Island Flavours
Full Day Sewing | Norfolk Island Fish Fry
Enjoy another relaxed morning of sewing after breakfast.
The retreat room is open throughout the day, with morning tea, a light lunch and afternoon tea provided.
Keep sewing, swap ideas, admire each other’s projects or take a break to explore more of the island.
Late this afternoon, we’ll leave the sewing room behind for one of Norfolk Island’s much-loved experiences.
Norfolk Island Fish Fry
You’ll be collected from the hotel and transferred to the spectacular Orn dar Cliff for a traditional Norfolk Island Fish Fry.
Enjoy an abundant feast featuring freshly fried local fish, traditional salads and homemade coconut bread, together with local specialities including Pilhi — a savoury banana dish — and Ana, a sweet potato dish flavoured with local herbs.
Save room for dessert, with coconut pie and cream on the menu.
As the evening unfolds, enjoy live local entertainment and a performance by the Baunti Byuutis, showcasing traditional Tahitian-inspired dancing.
After dinner, return to Paradise Hotel & Resort.
For those who still have some sewing energy left, the retreat room will remain open until 11.00pm.

There will be plenty of time to finish projects, take those final photographs, exchange ideas and enjoy the company of the wonderful group you’ve shared the week with.
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be served throughout the day.
This evening, gather together for our Buffet Dinner.
Celebrate the friendships you’ve made, the projects you’ve created and the wonderful memories you’ve collected during your week on Norfolk Island.

Friday 23 July 2027 – Farewell, Norfolk Island
Breakfast | Sydney Departure
After breakfast, it’s sadly time to say goodbye.
Take some final moments to enjoy your surroundings before checking out of Paradise Hotel & Resort by 10.00am.
You’ll be transferred to Norfolk Island Airport in time for your return flight to Sydney.
We hope you leave Norfolk Island with a suitcase full of sewing projects, a camera full of memories and, most importantly, new friendships that continue long after the retreat ends.

Terms and Conditions
Prices are a guide only, subject to change and availability, and are in Australian Dollars. Prices are correct as of 01 October 2026. Please check all prices, availability, fees, conditions and information with your travel agent before booking.
Deposit: A non-refundable deposit is due upon booking: AUD$250 per person. Airfare may be required at time of booking to commit to Qantas booking terms and conditions.
Final Payment: Final payment is due: 6 April 2027. Payment can be made by personal or bank cheques or by direct deposit into our Commonwealth Bank account. If you would prefer to pay by Visa or Mastercard, please add 1.5% to the total cost of your holiday package.
Changes & Amendments: Changes can be made up to 48 hours (notification business days only) prior to departure at a change fee of AUD$200 per person plus any applicable upgrade fees, subject to availability.
Cancellation: Airfare is subject to availability and non-refundable after issue. Accommodation cancellation penalties apply within 90 days prior to travel. Within 60 days of travel, up to 100% cancellation fees may apply.
